Re: Girls Scores

I am glad to hear the Lady Eagles played hard, and gave a good showing. They lose Petelle, and Chapman, but have some good young talent on the team, and some real good talent coming up. The future should be bright.

Good luck to your Lady Indians Indian Dad against Haysi. Too bad I had to work tonight. I would have liked to run into ya again.

Kelly won 57-52. They pulled away in the 4th quarter. Next for them is Haysi. GC will play Twin Valley. Maybe a all-LPD final.

[/ QUOTE ]

I seriously doubt that Kelly beats Haysi. Too much youth and inexperience to tame the Tigers. Its been a good run, but the Indians will be sent back to the reservation in Wise on a Trail of Tears of their own.....

Re: Girls Scores

From what I have been told Haysi is as slow as molasses. If we don't pull the upset, not too many tears will be shed. Tears are for seniors who played their last game-not youngins who'll be back with a vengence next year It's all good.

Slowness is a weakness Haysi has but after watching Kelly play I'd say the number of weaknesses they have outweight ours by a lot.

BTW Vtgal: What's up with the soupbean thing that those gals were doing? Unusual.

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually, it's "Soup Cans". It's kind of a long story, and one basically within the team...but it's just a bit of inspiration they've had since about mid-season or so. Kind of a "theme" to play on and remember throughout the game.

I heard some young guys behind our bench say, "That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. What idiots." every time "Soup Cans" was said.

I guess it is idiotic to an outsider, but not at all within our team.

I wish we could have gotten the win. Our girls played hard. Our seniors are really going to be missed. They are a great group of girls. We've got a good foundation coming back though and some tremendous young talent that will be stepping up.
Serious sport has nothing to do with fair play. It is bound up with hatred, jealousy, boastfulness, disregard of all rules and sadistic pleasure in witnessing violence. In other words, it is war minus the shooting.

Re: Girls Scores

Magna Vista must be very good.Lee had a good team this year & that score isnt even close. Is George Wythe as good the score indicates or was Bland just over-matched?

George Wythe is extremely talented. They are quick and have a good inside/outside game. It also helps that their center is 6'4 and can dunk the basketball. They have a good chance of going all the way this year.

The test is simple, if "your" team wins a national championship, do you get a championship ring? If the answer is yes, then you can say "we." If not, you can't.

Re: Girls Scores

Sounds like they have an excellent team. Who did they lose to this year?

Re: Girls Scores

Magna Vista is 17-3, and from what I understand, and from scores I've seen, they pretty much rolled through their district with ease...the second place team in the Piedmont was Bassett. Magna Vista beat them some 70 something to 30 something the first meeting, and it was a little closer the second game. When they combined with Luarel Park a couple years ago, the year before that, MV and LP finished 1st and 2nd respectively in the district...sooo..yep. lol. It didn't help matters any having to travel over there again either...

Good luck Grundy

Seriously though, good luck, hope you all beat them..at least you're not going over there.

I did hear that Magna Vista will lose a lot next year though(I think, may have heard wrong)....guess that's good news haha.
